Is it true that eating chocolate and being in love will
produce the same feelings in the body?  I've had love and I've had chocolate, and I've never come close to confusing the two. Where did this myth come from?
Seems that there's an amphetamine-like chemical--called
"
phenylethylamine"--in the brains of people in love that is
also present in chocolate. In an effort to prove that guys
in lab coats have a sense of humor, several years ago, two
doctors suggested that perhaps phenylethylamine was the
reason that people like chocolate so much.   Not to let any wacky theory go untested, some other guys in labs coats later concluded that most of the phenylethylamine is digested before it hits the brain, causing no amorous effects at all.   (Source: MORE OF THE STRAIGHT DOPE by Cecil Adams)

corrosive it can easily eat through a cotton handkerchief and even
through the iron of an automobile.     It does not bother the walls of the stomach, as it is protected by a coating of sticky mucus.

Can fraternal twins have different fathers?    Yup. The process even has its own name: "superfecundation."   Fraternal twins, you'll remember, are twins born from two separately fertilized ova (a.k.a. eggs), so the possibility of two eggs being fertilized by two different fathers isn't all that hard to believe.
For centuries, people thought superfecundation was possible, but until recently it was hard to prove. In 1978, through the use of a procedure called HLA (human leukocyte
antigen) testing, its existence was proven.

Why is a rabbit's foot considered a lucky charm?  The rabbit's foot has been considered lucky in Western Europe since before 600 BC. Several attributes of the rabbit may have contributed to this reputation, although
you have to wonder how lucky an animal is if its feet are frequently used for key chains and other amulets.  Rabbits are born with their eyes open, which some interpret
as natural intelligence or an ability to ward off evil. Others see the rabbit's underground dwelling as a connection to other worlds. Still others make the obvious leap of logic from the rabbit's powers of procreation to
personal prosperity or fertility. Any part of the rabbit is considered lucky but the foot is the common symbol, perhaps because it's just too gruesome to carry around a rabbit's
pancreas.   (Main source: THE BOOK OF ANSWERS By Barbara Berliner)
